Based in Hong Kong
One Voice for Asia is based in Hong Kong, a city which is a gateway to
China and the rest of Asia. More than two-thirds of the world's population lives within a 3000 mile
radius of Hong Kong. Very few of these have even heard the name of Jesus, let alone understood the
Good News that He offers.
Hong Kong is a city of great potential and resources, both in people and materials. One Voice for
Asia is networking with churches and other organizations to create a network of support for Christian
workers, both local and foreign, who are working in the nations of Asia.
We believe that, working together as the body of Christ, we can train and equip workers to be able to
do their part in fulfilling the Great Commission.
Why China?
The believers in China desperately need help in the areas of leadership development
and discipleship. In spite of the persecution that Christians face in China, it is estimated that 10 to
30 thousand new believers are coming to Christ per day. With that kind of growth, the need for good
leadership is great.
Part of the vision in our hearts is to teach leadership principles to believers in China. With that in
mind, we have developed a strategic partnership with EQUIP and have been certified by them
to teach Dr. John Maxwell's 21 Laws of Leadership and 17 Laws of Teamwork.
There is also a great need for Bibles and other discipleship materials in China. It is estimated that
there is only 1 one Bible per 1000 believers. As a result, many times a Bible will be torn up into
sections with each section being given to another believer, or group of believers. Unfortunately, this
practice has led to false doctrine and teaching in some instances. For example, say a group of believers
received Acts 9, which tells of Saul's conversion on the road to Damascus. Given that this might be the
only portion of the Bible to which they have been exposed, it is not unreasonable to see how they could
believe that one must hear the audible voice of Christ in order to be saved.
Despite the great revival in China today, it still remains one of the most unreached nations in the
world. With over 1.3 billion people it is the most populous nation on the globe. Many of these people
have yet to hear the name of Jesus, let alone attend a church or read a Bible in their own
language.
Finally, we believe that China holds the key to evangelizing and reaching the Muslim world with the
Good News of Jesus. Think about it! Chinese Christians are already used to being persecuted for their
faith. They are already accustomed to living in extreme poverty and to being outcasts in society. Do
they not make the perfect candidates to bring the Gospel to those nations which have violently rejected
it?
